Hmmm

I didn't make this up. It's from here.

And there's no such word as "coronated." No wonder newspapers are losing circulation.

  1. Dear Fr. Martins,

The general level of actual literacy in this country (speaking primarily of those who have completed a baccalaureate degree at an accredited college or university) has been trending generally downward for most of my adult life, and it is obvious to me from my life experience that something similar is true with respect to other parts of our educational system, at least in the U.S., specifically the K-12 public school system.

My daughter, now 19, had teachers of English who thought the verbal construct "so fun" was grammatically sound. It was that which helped me understand why the public school system referred to the course as Language Arts, rather than English. It appears to have been a matter of "truth in advertising," albeit a very sad truth.

  2. Matthew 24:23-24

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

This is sick! And anyone who finds this imagery okay is IMHO a sick, twisted and lost individual!

    Come Lord Jesus Come!

Thi is a lost world and is becoming more and more lost.

  4. I would be more comfortable if folks were seeing Christ in Obama not Obama as Christ.

  5. In a way I have to be glad about solecisms like coronated: they pay my bills. They keep me busy at the newspaper zapping them before they make it into print.

  6. This portrait demeans Christ and is an attempt to elevate Obama. To me it is similar to when the female "singer" Madonna demeans the name of our lady with her outrageous conduct. It also reminds me of when feminists put breasts on Christ on the cross or a cross was put in a glass of urine. Some folks think that by combining images, they elevate what is added. To me it demeans the original object. That is not art, it is propaganda. Eventually folks will realize the accuracy of Rev. Wright who said that Obama was a politician who would say whatever he had to to be elected. He is not a messiah. At least, he is not my Messiah Jesus Christ. He is my president and I pray for him.
